MEET DAN

Originally from Brantford, Dan studied at Agnes Hodge Public School, Pauline Johnson Collegiate, and the University of Toronto. After graduating in 1979, he relocated to Calgary, where he managed a contracting company, before returning to Brantford in 1990 to establish and operate his own business until retiring in 2020.
Before his election to Council, Dan wrote the Expositor’s “City Beat” political column for five years. During his time on Council, he has provided strong, sensible leadership and has served on many committees, including Engineering, Social Services (Chair), Finance (Chair), Estimates (Chair), Police Services Board, Brant County Health Unit (Chair), John Noble Home, HR (Chair), Red Tape (Chair), Accessibility Advisory, Brantford Heritage, Cultural Grants, Prominence Point, and several task forces.
He has represented the City of Brantford as delegate to the Chamber of Commerce Brantford–Brant for 20 years and currently serves as Chair of the Brantford Tourism Development Corporation, which administers Municipal Accommodation Tax funds from out‑of‑town hotel and motel guests. Dan is a consistent advocate for taxpayer relief, responsible budgeting, and the preservation and promotion of Brantford’s built heritage and cultural assets.
Dan and his wife Lorie are proud parents of two adult children, Rachel (and her partner Naresh) and Connor (and his wife Mallory), and grandparents to three grandchildren: Grace, Nathan, and Hannah Grace. They share their home with a spirited Wheaton Terrier named Finnegan, and Dan is an avid cyclist who can be found most mornings on the Brantford and Brant trails.
